5/ This isn’t about political purism or refusal to talk with/engage ppl across the political spectrum on gender issues. It’s about alliances w/*organizations*—organizations which take a stand on issues in opposition to strongly held values of many of us on the left & even center

6/ Yes we’ve been wrongly marginalized & misrepresented, & we should keep pointing that out. Yes, the left and even centrist media pretend we don’t exist, call us bigots, etc. But allying w/ far-right organizations (even w/eyes open) risks greater marginalization & dismissal.

7/ This doesn’t mean there should be no “hands across the aisle,” that there is no common ground, or that people cannot work together on this single issue. But this is very different from a full-throated embrace and call to unite with rightwing *organizations*.

8/ And: Tactics matter. Just because we are frustrated and upset doesn’t justify any and all political actions. In particular, behaving like extremist trans activists will get us nowhere as a movement and is highly unlikely to win hearts and minds. /FIN
