2/ As it is, dishonest trans activists have already managed to convince too many that no one on the US political left or center is objecting to the excesses of trans activism and, in particular, its effect on youth.

3/ Allying w/ orgs which fight to eliminate rights for LGB people, universal healthcare, & deny climate change (along w/much more) will only cement the perception that only the rightwing have issues w/ extremist trans activism and the rise in medicalizing gender atypical youth.

4/ Gender identity/genderism is a big issue for some of us on the left and center. But it’s not the only issue. It’s a mistake to believe everyone should simply ignore the other positions of organizations like Heritage and work comfortably with them/rely on them as a platform.

5/ This isn’t about political purism or refusal to talk with/engage ppl across the political spectrum on gender issues. It’s about alliances w/*organizations*—organizations which take a stand on issues in opposition to strongly held values of many of us on the left & even center

6/ Yes we’ve been wrongly marginalized & misrepresented, & we should keep pointing that out. Yes, the left and even centrist media pretend we don’t exist, call us bigots, etc. But allying w/ far-right organizations (even w/eyes open) risks greater marginalization & dismissal.

7/ This doesn’t mean there should be no “hands across the aisle,” that there is no common ground, or that people cannot work together on this single issue. But this is very different from a full-throated embrace and call to unite with rightwing *organizations*.

8/ And: Tactics matter. Just because we are frustrated and upset doesn’t justify any and all political actions. In particular, behaving like extremist trans activists will get us nowhere as a movement and is highly unlikely to win hearts and minds. /FIN

Significant parts of the US right know they need a "post-Roe" culture-war "wedge issue" to divide GOP opposition as abortion damaged FDR's coalition with Roman Catholics. US right-wingers have begun to press this issue, using it to disrupt cooperation among women, gays, young.

Oh, stop with the tinfoil-hat paranoia. Stop trying to blame the Right for a problem created by transgender extremists who are, in fact, funded by the Left. If facts do not conform to your ideological categories, it's not the facts which are the problem.
