I really don't consider myself a leader. I'm confident in making certain statements that lesbians would broadly agree with.

No. You are signing their name to it out of cowardice. You are not willing to give your opinion as your own, and you are using verbal bully tactics threatening people with unpopularity. It's childish and quite anti-feminist.

Popularity is nice, but has never been my goal. Fidelity to the science is. Adding the P amounts to no such thing. All I point out is the rule same rule applies to all of us: Do whatever posts no harm to anyone. No one needs to be stigmatized for following that rule.

But you still haven't explained why the P belongs with the LGB. Not a trick question. https://twitter.com/4th_WaveNow/status/1080670244681609217 … .

4thWaveNow @4th_WaveNowReplying to @thehomoarchy @JamesCantorPhD @virpeds1/ What exactly is accomplished by tacking on every orientation to LGB? Even the "T" makes no sense; trans activists themselves say gender ID has nothing to do w/sexual orientation. Why must LGB serve as a catchall for any and all (non hetero?) sexual interests? In fact...1 reply 0 retweets 15 likes -

To me, "the list" is everyone who is sexually atypical. What can be acted out safely/consensually is a different story. Adding the P (the sexual attraction pattern) does not condone the behaviour it motivates. I point out only there is nothing gained by humiliating these ppl.

Dr. Cantor, this isn't a contest about expertise. It's a discussion about the societal & political impact of fusing the LG community/movement w/ pedophiles. Those with most to lose don't have to be experts on pedophilia to have something intelligent to contribute.

They don't. But they do need to make argument based on something other than raw emotion. People believe that it is their very condemnation that keeps people from doing harm. The entire field of social psychology says that's wrong.

It's mixing two different issues: (1) Condemnation and (2) an obligation that lesbians & gay men should welcome all who have atypical sexual interests into their movement. One could reject (1) but still not want (2).

I'm sure there are/will be such people. But it is hypocritical nonetheless.

Again: By your logic, the LG movement/community should also welcome ppl into sex w/animals or dead bodies--whether they act on it or not. It's exactly the same reasoning. The cost to LG ppl for that level of inclusion would be huge. Why should they pay that cost?
