/ In 2015, the mother of a young adult w/Down Syndrome fundraised for "top surgery," even when her daughter was in ICU w/serious health issues. Those of us who uncovered/revealed it in 2015 assumed it would peak-trans many people. No one, outside a few blogs, said a word. https://twitter.com/EllieRestless/status/1080595124365680640 …

/ It's important to emphasize the story is nearly 4 years old. This is not to diminish the outrage of ppl just discovered it, but it's old news. Trust us when we tell you affirmative clinicians are all-in when it comes to med transition of ppl w/serious comorbid health issues.

/ Heart conditions, extreme obesity, cancer, life-threatening conditions and yes, Down Syndrome--NONE are barriers to surgical or hormonal interventions. When ppl like Olson-Kennedy spend years peddling the idea of "suicide or transition," anything goes. We have the receipts.

/ Just 1 example. Winters (not an MD) is a powerful player in trans activism; WPATH, runs a widely read website, currently co-moderates the International Transgender Health (formerly WPATH SOC 7) FB page, among many other roles. Frequently advocates for early med transition.pic.twitter.com/IrQXzfGzwg

/ This thread documents a group of activists & clinicians debating whether a person w/extreme obesity should be a candidate for phalloplasty, a very serious surgery. The more extreme commenters claim ANY restriction based on BMI is just "fatphobia."https://twitter.com/4th_WaveNow/status/1029029149564755969 …
