The problem, among other things, is that an endocrinologist should not characterize gender dysphoria as a "delusional disorder." DD has a very precise clinical meaning. Almost all people with gender dysphoria do not literally believe they are of the "other" sex/gender.

See the literature on, e.g., schizophrenia and "transsexualism": the phenomenology is different. Yes, trans individuals know they cannot "literally" change their physical sex. But they want to approximate the phenotype the best that they can. https://guilfordjournals.com/doi/10.1521/psyc.2007.70.2.175 …

It's more in the way of political discourse than clinical discourse. Of course, the politics influence, well, politicians and others in positions of power and my experience is that politicians are not particularly interested in clinical science.

This group sounds like the transsexuals you are referring to (who are aware they are not "literally" the opposite sex). See their critique of the trans activist movement here, which DOES demand everyone validate the notion that "trans women ARE women." https://twitter.com/tsvoices/status/1029863492197785600 …

Interesting, since such a lack of belief contradicts Kristina Olson's frequently cited "research" which suggests that she can establish what child is or isn't *really* "transgender" by his or her claims that they really *are* a different sex.

Yes, would be interested to hear Dr. Zucker's take on that assertion. Most "affirmative" clinicians now say that a young child asserting "I am" vs "I wish I were" is diagnostic of "true trans."
