Why does Chelsea Manning's lawyer fly into a rage that someone wrote an article which included (for the first time in the US MSM) two teen girls who thought they were trans, but changed their minds? Two girls. Along with happy trans teens. Why the vitriol? https://twitter.com/thehomoarchy/status/1012446249201496064 …

Here's what Strangio is apopletic about. Decide for yourself: Is it a "piece of shit"? Why does an
@ACLU attorney say, in response, "I hate these fucking people" & "more trans ppl should have kids." He hates parents of teens who decide they're not trans?https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/07/when-a-child-says-shes-trans/561749/ …6 replies 8 retweets 25 likesShow this thread -
Actually, the screencaps in
@thehomoarchy 's tweet are Strangio's reaction to a story last year by the mom of a tomboy, who was tired of ppl asking for her pronouns. But Strangio's feed is full of freakout over the Atlantic, piece too; & he stands by his reactions from last year.pic.twitter.com/TgEqUq5xf2

Trans-activist freakout over
@TheAtlantic article boils down to "You should have had a trans journalist cover it!" But half the piece is about desisters & detransitioners. How could a trans journo cover that part, given that: /11 reply 2 retweets 9 likesShow this thread -
Every trans activist or journo says detransitioners are too rare to be worth covering; there's no such thing as teen girls being caught up in trans-trending social contagion (despite desisters admitting to it themselves); /2

Detransitioners were either "never trans to begin with" or only detransition because of "social pressure" & will end up retransitioning in future. All of this, despite many detrans/desisters having met DSM-V criteria for gender dysphoria (e.g., Delta in
@TheAtlantic piece). /31 reply 2 retweets 8 likesShow this thread -
Whole basis of the tantrum that
@TheAtlantic should have picked a trans journo is predicated on ONLY trans people's "lived experience" being pertinent. But trans-ID'ed ppl AREN'T detransitioners or desisters, so if "lived experience" is the criterion, they don't have it. /41 reply 8 retweets 16 likesShow this thread -
This reveals the real reason for the tantrum: They don't want ANYone to cover the inconvenient cases of desistance & destransition, unless it's to dismiss and deny them. Or to say that the very mention of those cases is directly responsible for children committing suicide. /5pic.twitter.com/GjR6LFN75i

(Above tweet is only a smattering of the hyperbolic reactions spreading like a virus on social media.) So: An article that devotes half its space to a few cases of desistance/detransition, the other half to strongly supporting medical transition is literally killing people. /6

Real investigative journalists search for nuance. Reporting complex issues is best done by those who AREN'T invested in only one side--or who are vulnerable to emotional blackmail. The voices of desisters/detransitioners, & their families, also deserve to be heard. /fin

Replying to @4th_WaveNow
I think you do a good job in speaking for us just wish your voice of reason, could reach further, I've realised being neutral is the easyest way to figure all this out scary but it works I've still got plenty to learn though we need to stop blaming eachother so much
