Doctors do NOT swear by the Hippocratic oath as it requires that they NOT use a scalpel. Sterilizing people to treat illness is common, or even just because they don't want children. This is BS of the highest order.https://gizmodo.com/doctors-aren-t-actually-bound-by-the-hippocratic-oath-1465044222 …

The Hippocratic oath does not omit use of a scalpel.

It’s lack of a scientific way of telling in advance who the scalpel will help and who it will harm that is the problem

But we're not talking about pre-teens getting gender reassignment surgery. We're not even talking about anyone under 18 getting surgery. After that, if someone's gone through what experts have recommended - it's their choice.

At risk of "Dr Cheryl" tagging Twitter Support into the thread, in the US, under 18s DO get gender surgeries. Not a secret. And gender docs agitate for no minimum age for such surgeries. Jazz Jennings (age 17) is slated for "bottom surgery" this month.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO-RkaVMHnQ …

Jazz has been on cross-sex hormones since age 12 .This has been stated by Jazz and family openly on the reality show "I am Jazz." Jazz was rendered permanently sterile while still in middle school.

And whether Jazz ever wants to have children is immaterial. You don't sterilize children. The decision to reproduce (or not) is one reserved to adults. 12-year-olds aren't capable of making that decision. This used to be uncontroversial--only a few years ago.

The big lie is here that of suggesting that "12 year olds" are being permanently sterilized... oh dear... that means I "sterilized" my 14 year old female child when I authorized her to use subcutaneous depo-provera inserts that last a year for birth control.

Who's lying here? Puberty blockers followed directly by cross-sex hormones results in permanent sterilization. Immature gametes can't be banked. Even gender specialists say this openly.https://twitter.com/4th_WaveNow/status/1004465605758607360 …

Special cases aren't proof of the generalization. Blockers are reversable, thus "12 years olds" are not being "sterilized"... if they they chose to maintain this condition later one... that does not retroactively support your assertion.https://sillyolme.wordpress.com/2018/06/09/transphobic-propaganda-aimed-at-parents-of-transgender-kids/ …

What are you talking about? These aren't "special cases." 90-100% of US puberty-blocked patients move on to cross-sex hormones. Try reading the referenced material.

And this is somehow seen as evidence that blockers are a bad idea? Actually, this would suggest that blockers are an unneccessary delay imposed not for medical, but political, reasons. As we get better diagnostic screening tools, HRT may be initiated at an earlier age.

Actually... I DO read the liturature, and probably with a far more open mind that you appearantly. I don't use emotionally laden terms to scare other parents:https://sillyolme.wordpress.com/2011/02/28/age-of-innocence/ …
