And how irresponsible is @rtv6 to allow this assertion to go unchallenged--that a teacher calling students by their last names could drive teenagers to suicide? A complete violation of media ethics standards on the part of the Indianapolis channel & news anchor @mcclellantv

Responsible news outlets should not be contributing to suicide contagion, to which teens are particularly susceptible. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00031539.htm …pic.twitter.com/tgHhArjT78

This situation is out of control. These kids are seriously overindulged, IMO.

Why not have a policy of using last names? A bit formal, but does avoid the stumbling over new names.

If someone didn't already have some sort of suicide ideation, I doubt that perceived disrespect could be the sole cause of someone to take their own lives. This is what these young people are told to think. Sad.

3 trans students in the same class at the same school? Social contagion isn’t mentioned in the article -more sloppy journalism in addition to failing to challenge the suicide narrative.

This is what I would be asking. I do think this trend in teen girls is along the same body dysphoria line as anorexia. All about control and acceptance. It’s just a different representation. We don’t affirm anorexic behaviours do we? So why this?
