Dean did not ask or make the unhoused people move, and they didn’t want to. The police finally cleared the corner because someone tried to stab a police officer, on top of all the other assaults, overdoses, etc. I guess that was the last straw for the police.

Not at all what happened but you know that. As promised, we fought for a Safe Sleeping Village which was offered to unhoused folks on that corner and they moved into it. That was many months ago.

Thank you for your response. We here on Masonic know differently and never saw you or your comrades advocate or support us or
@SFPDPark. Your inability to work with elected officials and housed residents is disappointing to say the least and VERY DETRIMENTAL to the health of D5.1 reply 1 retweet 6 likes -

The fact that you didn’t “see” it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t happening, neighbor.

What we see and still see because we live here--doing the best we can through this pandemic--doesn't mean it doesn't exist. We who have lived here for decades just want a clean, safe neighborhood/city, a leader who doesn't just say he listens, one who really does play well w/ALL.

@DeanPreston publicly dismisses us &our experiences &tells us we don't know what is happening on on our literal doorsteps. We have had violent experiences regarding encampments. It is unsafe for folks w/roofs it is very unsafe for folks w/o roofs. It isn't fear mongering its real1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

The last brawl at Clayton and Haight was started by a pair of bridge and tunnel kids who came to the Haight looking for trouble (as they do). Nobody is saying that homeless encampments on the sidewalks are good or desirable - for anyone. But just telling (1/2)

There have been several brawls since. One poor unhoused fellow was kicked all the way down the road by a group of transient folks. Another fight was caught on film by the NBC camera crew who came to investigate the most public brawl - go look at the NBC story.

Not to minimize it, but it's a fact that there have been regular fights on-or-around Haight St. for decades. It's not acceptable, but not new, and it's usually not our unhoused neighbors instigating. They r often the victims. Re: NBC-only info I find is about the Clayton brawl.

Sorry but due to Sup Dean's mismanaged plans costing tax payers 1.5+M for 40people (?) our neighborhood is suffering. Everyone is losing. Vallie has a much better housing plan and works well with others.
