Fear mongering, really? This "deal" was at Haight & Masonic 4.5 months ago when D5 neighbors were begging unresponsive @DeanPreston for help because we were being threatened by the dealers in HIS TENTS and his aides told us to be compassionate...7 ODs on our block. @chesaboudinpic.twitter.com/Nfr0RtULSh

Very shortly thereafter, Dean Preston helped get those corners cleared. And they are still completely clear to this day.

Not at all. He offered no help for 2 months. We witnessed drug deals, accumulation of trash, 7 ODs, and a crazed out of control car accident before
@SFPDPark stepped in to help. Dean didn't never bothered w/housed residents on the block locked in our homes due to health factors.4 replies 1 retweet 14 likes -

I agree that the situation on Haight and Masonic in the early days of the pandemic was awful and untenable. But you can't open a SSV in the middle of a pandemic overnight. Dean was working to do that for you! And he got it done! Dean got it fixed.

No, I beg to differ. Preston was completely unable to handle the situation. He needed the trained Park police officers whom he insists he wants to defund. Many unhoused didn't want to go to the safe site and moved to other sidewalks a few blocks over. 6 months is not temporary.

6 months is, definitionally, temporary. (It'll be 5, ultimately). Dean was deeply involved in getting your corner cleared. That the police also were involved was part of that. Some folks didn't want to move into the SSV that's their right. But they aren't on your corner any more

No, respectfully Mr. Joe's Waste of Time, you are wrong again. Two months of Haight Street Fair 24/7. Dean was nowhere, and as we saw in tonight's debate he continues to discount our distress. Videos of dangerous behavior abound with vestiges of his mismanagement all over D5.

Again: Preston got the SSV opened, which is what enabled your corner to be cleared. During the time you say he was doing nothing, he was working tirelessly to help you.

No,
@DeanPreston NEVER even had the courtesy to reply let alone have dialogue and CONTINUES TO ANTAGONIZE his constituency. Vallie Brown has truly worked tirelessly to unite and motivate residents/constituents and continues to do so. She knows how to BUILD NOT DESTROY community.1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

So you wanted an email (that you never got) more than you wanted Haight and Masonic cleared of campers (which you did get)? I don't know what to say to that. Vallie is in pocket of developers. But if that's ok with you, by all means, vote accordingly.

Wrong again on both accounts. No response from Dean for 5 months. 7 ODs and years of hard work to make our neighborhood safe for families down the toilet because of Preston's actions. Quality of life for all is down in the SFPark district. Vallie is compassionate. Dean is not.
