Fear mongering, really? This "deal" was at Haight & Masonic 4.5 months ago when D5 neighbors were begging unresponsive @DeanPreston for help because we were being threatened by the dealers in HIS TENTS and his aides told us to be compassionate...7 ODs on our block. @chesaboudinpic.twitter.com/Nfr0RtULSh

I agree that the situation on Haight and Masonic in the early days of the pandemic was awful and untenable. But you can't open a SSV in the middle of a pandemic overnight. Dean was working to do that for you! And he got it done! Dean got it fixed.
-
No, I beg to differ. Preston was completely unable to handle the situation. He needed the trained Park police officers whom he insists he wants to defund. Many unhoused didn't want to go to the safe site and moved to other sidewalks a few blocks over. 6 months is not temporary.

Dean did not ask or make the unhoused people move, and they didn’t want to. The police finally cleared the corner because someone tried to stab a police officer, on top of all the other assaults, overdoses, etc. I guess that was the last straw for the police.

Dean doesn't deliver homeless services, not his job. HYA are the ones who asked the unhoused at Haight and Masonic if they'd like to move to the SSV. Many did. The rest moved to different locations. You can't "make" anyone go anywhere - the Constitution protects the unhoused too.

Again - Dean spent those two months working tirelessly to get the SSV set up. What does the car crash have to do with anything? That's weirdly random.
-
Not random at all. It was one of the "unhoused" fighting w/a fellow "unhoused" tent dweller. He drove his car over the curb trying to back into the tents, then he drove forward into three residents' cars on the same block. Just another day in the circus under
@DeanPreston's reign
