'Biali Zimni Ludzie' are white gnomes from Polish folk tales. They ambush lone travelers in the forest, wait for them to fall asleep, and enter their bodies through the mouth or the nostrils. They infect the victim with various hard-to-cure illnessespic.twitter.com/OTB1Y2M4YR

Hey, please don't use images without tagging the author. This one was painted by my brother in law, Paweł Zych, for book called Bestiariusz Słowiański (Slavic Bestiary).

This makes me think that someone in the past had a better understanding of bacterial disease than we give them credit for, but it's "folklore" because that's the best they could explain it.

According to @outstarwalker further up the thread it was her brother in law, Paweł Zych, for a book called Bestiariusz Słowiański (Slavic Bestiary). Copy pasting because I'm not tackling that title without a runup :)

When it comes to Polish myth's there's not much to go by. They mostly never were written on anything. It was more of a "story past generation by generation". And the whole thing with Christianity going loko in Poland didn't help to keep up with our myths.
