        The thing about these practical effects is and they couldn't be "animated" to look natural/organic add an extra level of creepiness to an already creepy scenario.

        The backdrop of the story was true and Melies really was forgotten because most of his work was destroyed for the silver nitrate in the film. Hugo is one of the best 3D movies ever made.
