Just watched the Shining last night and noticed the same thing. Many stylistic overlaps with 2010 and Clockwork Orange.

        Of course I mean 2001.

2010 is actually a fine movie about the Russian/US cold war in the 1980s in space. But it is not a Kubrick film and lacks visual substance.

        So does Wes Anderson

I was about to make the same reply. I agree, but I think Anderson uses less forced perspective, a flatter field, and of course bolder colors. I think Kubrick and Anderson also share a slow but tense pacing that I love.

Now I want to watch each of those movies again. I could watch The Shining once a week. It's not scary, but it is like an art puzzle with a plot.
