These illustrations you've been posting and watching the Disney version again, it seems to me that people put a lot of energy trying to make this book seem less English.

Or maybe they're just trying to make it their own, as is done with many great stories.

But this is about the most English book there is. I would have thought it was essential to its nature. Disney of course tried to remake everything he touched in his own image, which is in a sense a Hollywood impulse.
