Shel also wrote some incredible country hits, including "Boy Named Sue" sung by Johnny Cash; "Hey Loretta" sung by Loretta Lynn; and "Cover of the Rolling Stone" sung by Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show. Many more too! Talented guy.
He wrote loads of stuff for the Medicibe Show - Queen Of The Silver Dollar, Penicillin Penny etc. Memories of my childhood
Love Silverstein! That brought me back. I read this in front of the class for 3rd grade.pic.twitter.com/KQToLHekYU
Thanks for putting up my favorite poem: "My beard." His books were a big part of my childhood.
I read this in the fourth grade. Absolute favorite collection of poems!
Loved this book as a boy. Still do!
Born in 1999 and read some children's poetry by Silverstein as a child and loved it- never knew it was released in the 70s.
Last one is the best one
One of my favorites! My kids read and re-read that book until it fell apart.
Thus was my favorite book of poems when I was a child
one of my favorite reads from childhood
I still have this, as well as Light in the Attic and Falling Up. Great books.
I had forgotten these poems of my childhood, but remembered My Beard straight away. Loved this book! So glad I grew up in the 70s.
Reminds me of Spike Milligan's Silly Verse for Kids
