Brian De Palma copied the baby carriage scene in "The Untouchables" (1987) from the 1925 "Battleship Potemkin" by Sergei Eisenstein. I liked Eisenstein's version much better. Gut wrenching. B&W can be so much better than color when telling a story.

I like the version from Naked Gun 33 1/3 the best.

I'm going to have to check it out. I don't remember that. Thanks!

Holy Hell! I never knew.

One of the things it really highlights for me is how brilliant it was to follow the axe head across the shot - just that much. All the force and power added to the shot. That is vision right there. That is the eye.

The first 30 seconds of that are pretty coherent. After that... it starts to resemble all that Kubrick faked the moon landing stuff. But it is a great shot, and very intentional.

True ! Sjöström's Phantom Carriage also sets up the theme for Nolan's Blockbuster Inception, with it's flashbacks and forwards, with children in plot

@Gus_Noriega, esta era la escena original que referencia El resplandor, no la canción del prisionero. -
