I have distinctive memories of being seriously disturbed by the ending of this book as a four-year-old. If you need definitive proof that Dahl was a bit of a sicko, turn to the last page.

Well, he was a pilot in the RAF with recorded kills to his name, so that'd make him a pretty weird Nazi supporter. He later worked in the US combatting the America First movement. He was, however, very upset with the behaviour of Israel during the first Lebanon War.
