I saw a version in 1982 with a pop music score, and then a couple years later there was a version with Jon Anderson of Yes doing the music.

That was a score produced by Giorgio Moroder, featuring cuts by Freddie Mercury, Pat Benatar, Anderson, a few others. The Alloy Orchestra performed an original accompaniment when I saw it in Hollywood. A+!

Yah I remember now, it was precisely because of "cat people" and Moroder's song that Bowie sang that we went to see that version of Metropolis! We we're not disappointed.
