Did she really use a flamethrower in Alien? Wasn't that later, in Aliens?

No that was pulse rifles - there were only cattle prods and flame throwers in first one

She actually duct taped a flame-thrower to a pulse rifle in Aliens. In Alien they used flame throwers to avoid an acid hull breech.
