That is weirdly specific. So, he only does ceilings?
-
And why lick them?
-
It's tasty haven't you tried
-
I tried it but then someone saw me and then they died, what does this mean? WHAT AM I!

How many Japanese monsters are just like "if you ever notice its existence, you die."
-
Almost as much as the "if you don't notice it's existence, you suffer horribly, then die" category

“Ceiling-licker” sounds like an insult by Lemony Snicket

Most folktales have some reasoning or lesson behind them. Is this just to get children to close their eyes and go to sleep?
-
i would rather say that something with the ventilation, roofing and heating wasn't right and that got the cieling wet and moldy... so they had to blame it on something but also needed a reason why noone would've seen why it happened.
