Just to offer some perspective: I'm 49, Australian, go hiking whenever I can and have seen exactly ONE live snake out in the wild. (I don't live in Queensland, however. Queensland is the Australia that the rest of the world imagines Australia to be)

This tree-climbing is a bit "creepy", that the snake does it so mechanical and disciplined - the lifting and coiling, and pausing - before doing the next section.
