The origin of the Futakuchi Onna is also interesting. The two origins i am aware of are the following: A punishment for vain women willing to starve themselves to look beautiful. A consequence of women being denied food to the point of starvation.

I've come across it in line with the first origin, in which case the tales serve as warnings against greed and vanity. I'm curious about the second origin? I haven't come across that yet. Is she more a spirit of vengeance in those cases?

Type2 futakuchi onna are women who for different reasons are starved by their husbands or families. Their transformation into a futakuchi onna ensures their survival but either dooms their tormentors to death by starvation or drive them away when discover her second mouth.

I almost forgot about the darkest origin of the futakuchi onna. The type3 are beings of pure vengeance, the spirits children who died of malnutrition due to their mothers inability or refusal to feed them. The second mouth devouring the food the children was denied in life.

Japanese folklore is one reason Japanese horror films are so f***ing terrifying. Wild stuff.
