You have me wondering. Has any animal on its own ever stood on the peak of Mt. Everest?

Almost certainly not. There's very very very little oxygen up there. And why would any animal ever go there in the first place, let along evolve the necessary adaptations? There's nothing to eat up there. It would have to be a bizarre extremophile microorganism or something.
