But the bat is so far out in front of the guy, it’s hard to know if it’s just perspective size. Although I suppose it could be eating a tiny banana...

photo is misleading, bat is close to camera - "the megabat’s actual body length is not comparable to the size of an average adult human. According to Animal Diversity, these megabats only grow to a little over a foot in length and weigh less than 3 pounds"https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/ …

If you actually opened that link or did your own research, you would see that those measurements are correct. Wing span can be as long as 4-5.7 ft but the actual body isn’t that big, as you can clearly see in this picture taken directly from the linked article. 1.5-2 ft tops 🤷🏼‍♀️pic.twitter.com/ca8fOafIsY

Kinda makes me wonder if reports of the "Jersey Devil" or the "Mothman" really stems from somebody's attempt to smuggle one of those into the US to be a pet, only for it to escape and scare people at night unintentionally🤔

Nah, the most dangerous thing about fruit bats -- so long as you're not harassing them -- is that they can carry diseases that are extremely dangerous to humans. And this one's obviously been either raised by people, or trained to come close and accept food from them.
