What are the white bits?

He’s eating a banana

-
So we literally have a banana for scale. Holy moly, that thing is huge.
-
I mean there’s literally a human right there... but bananas work too
-
But the bat is so far out in front of the guy, it’s hard to know if it’s just perspective size. Although I suppose it could be eating a tiny banana...

photo is misleading, bat is close to camera - "the megabat’s actual body length is not comparable to the size of an average adult human. According to Animal Diversity, these megabats only grow to a little over a foot in length and weigh less than 3 pounds"https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/megabat-photo/ …

I love how people always want to challenge you.

If you actually opened that link or did your own research, you would see that those measurements are correct. Wing span can be as long as 4-5.7 ft but the actual body isn’t that big, as you can clearly see in this picture taken directly from the linked article. 1.5-2 ft tops

We need to keep up the struggle for bats. They're so misunderstood.

Kinda makes me wonder if reports of the "Jersey Devil" or the "Mothman" really stems from somebody's attempt to smuggle one of those into the US to be a pet, only for it to escape and scare people at night unintentionally

-
Hmmm... maybe y'all have a Jersey Devil alright... very rare, almost extinct? Notice the latin name of one giant megabat

Instead of just standing there maybe run like hell?
-
Nah, the most dangerous thing about fruit bats -- so long as you're not harassing them -- is that they can carry diseases that are extremely dangerous to humans. And this one's obviously been either raised by people, or trained to come close and accept food from them.
