Being in 3D with 5 (6?) senses within a 4D world within 10 dimensions seems limiting. Hawking explained it well. A 2D creature could only see forward, catching a glimpse of 3D (your shoe sole), while in 3D from above you could see and manipulate it's surroundings sans detection.
