I looked up the meaning of 1: “The Frailty of Human Life” (1656), was painted soon after the death of his son, Rosalvo. The scroll reads “Conceptio Culpa, Nasci Pena, Labor Vita, Necesse Mori”, which means “Conception is a sin, Birth is pain, Life is toil, Death a necessity.”
I don't presume to know what Anthony was into, but that doesn't look especially tempting.

I wonder how Salvatore Rosa got ideas for demons & how to paint what he painted, since there was no tv or visual clues like today to get ideas from. So the artists back then must of really had a wild imagination or they saw things! Ha!
