Look at the humongous size of this wolf.

It’s amazing how big wolves are. We have a nature center here with several wolves & they are breathtakingly huge. Seeing them close up really drives that home. Seeing them in this photo is the very definition of “intimidating”.

What breed of dog approximates their size?

Years ago I had a female Irish wolfhound & I would put them near to her size. Not as tall as a male wolfhound though they are certainly “bulkier” than a female. They also have this sort of stiff-legged gait when they walk that makes me glad there is a sturdy barrier between us.
