Macro Photography of Thorny South African Seeds by Dillon Marsh. These sharp points allow the seeds to attach themselves to unsuspecting animals or humans unnoticed, and has earned them the name of “hitchhiker plants” (https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2019/06/hitchhikers-dillon-marsh/ …)pic.twitter.com/lZwjnORwB9

Ah, yes! These were the bane of our lives as kids. SA farm kids' feet eventually get leather-like soles to repel these! Ironically, the plant is actually called "Devil's Thorn" here, and the thorns are "dubbeltjies" - probably mutated from "duiweltjie" -little devil in Afrikaans.

I love macro photography! These are very cool when you stare up close. Two could be ideal Rorschach tests. Left looks like a demon head to me; Right like an exploding Ferrero Rocher ball, or a melting caramel sun or sea urchin. (Yes, my psyche is currently calling for sweets.)pic.twitter.com/uUkPFYmD5e

Keen ressemblance to cram-cram, found’in my native Senegal. Very, very painful contact with the skin as well, but its nutritional properties are amazing. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cenchrus_biflorus …
