Nice!
I've read some of the graphic novel that this is based on. Never got to finish it, unfortunately; it was certainly a compelling read. I should probably watch the film sometime in the future, assuming it's faithful to the source material.
It is.
The “Eye of the Tiger” sequence gets me every time
The graphic novel and the movie were really good. Though I liked the graphic novel just a bit more because the movie had to jump in places to save on run time.
This had such an impact on me. It also hit a little too close to home in terms of how I felt as a teenager.
My English teacher had us watch this in school in 9th grade — a masterpiece.
Apropos of this, I suggest animation from the Soviet bloc as great material for this profile. See "Masters of Russian Animation" and "Animated Soviet Propaganda". Here's an example, altho I don't know if it's included in those.pic.twitter.com/zR6IqV5GBF
Quirky, lewd, and a bit strange. This looks to be right up my alley. What's this clip from? Besides checking out the things you mentioned, would you have any recommendations for animation in the same vein?
AFAIK those are the only real collections in English, I'm afraid. But there are lots more in YT. Here are a few lists. If you can handle Russian, the last 2 are the biggest resources. http://bit.ly/2MEdZgE https://imdb.to/2MEdZ08 http://bit.ly/2MCS7Co http://bit.ly/2MEwilV
For recommendations, the biggest one is 'The Snow Queen' from 1957, one of Hayao Miyazaki's greatest influences. 'There will come soft rains' and 'Ave Maria' are terrific. 'Nu Pogodi' is a children's classic. 'Winnie Teh Pooh' and 'Alice in Wonderland' are takes on familiar faces
One of the best satires I’ve ever seen. Maybe because it is too familiar. The B&W tone made the impact more lasting as I remember the days the same.
Amazing movie
Yooo I remember reading this book in english class! My teacher showed us the movie too!
I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH holy shit
A highly recommended must see.
