I use a stick or a plank. This doesn't look very "environmental"!

What do you use when an animal falls into your pool and you’re not home?

The plank stays in the water, long enough to touch the bottom, critters can climb up it to get out. Used to always have a plank in the pond at home for frogs

oh, how smart! I once had to rescue a gecko from a swimming pool - it would have eventually drowned if I hadn't happened to be there at the right time.
