I’m surprised how most aquatic creatures at their birth can already do most of the things they can do as adults, meanwhile we humans take at least a full year to start developing and understanding our surroundings

I'd just be thrilled for the actual childbirth part to be this easy :)

Yeah but there are animal like mantas that when they are born they swim so casually, like it’s just a normal Thursday

I’m not really a guy who’s big on biology but I assume the only reason we take long to do simple actions is because our brains are quite large and complex, compared to other creatures. So we basically trade off a few years for intelligence.

I read a cool thing years ago that said human children are supposed to gestate for a year, but when we started walking upright our hips had to narrow, so mother nature basically births children 3 months early which is why the first 3 months is so erratic with sleep, etc
