This is not natural sand, but a selection of some of the beautiful grains you could find in sand. Compare to going to the beach searching for pebbles and then making a picture of the 12 prettiest. No way whole beach is like that. But it still makes for a pretty picture.

You can find some amazing sands in the world, and looking under a microscope reveals much about it's origin. Sand from rivers, sand from corals or calcite fossils from single celled organisms. Or vulcanic sands. Even wavesize, currents and tides decide which sand deposites where

The sand grains are from Maui, Hawaii, Japan, California, Ireland, Bermuda, and Minnesota
