Uk used to have a similar breed the Lincolnshire Curly Coated, but we let it become extinct. The Rare Breeds Survival Trust has helped to ensure that no farm animal breeds since then have shared that sad end

I learned about old and rare breeds of farm animals during my university days studying veterinarian med. The Margalica wool pig was a favourite. But there is some really cool and resilient livestock out there. I remember beautiful Indian chickens, heavy horses & great ruminants.

Were these horses the same ones people bred to be as rectangular as possible?
-
Yes most of them. Very impressive ones like an Ardenner or a Međimurje horse. Compared to an Arabian horse they look like a different species.pic.twitter.com/uzE9MDUh00

So ... it seems we actually can make silk from a sows ear.
-
Is this a saying I've never heard? This sounds like a U.S. Southern saying, and I'm from the South and never heard it! What's the original saying if so?
-
I messed it up. The actual saying is “you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.” The internet claims it’s Scottish:https://wordhistories.net/2016/12/28/silk-purse-sows-ear/ …

I've seen lots of Southerners trying to make chicken salad out of chicken shit, tho.
