Strange, they don't look like mammals do they, LOL?
-
They look like a bunch of leftover parts that were thrown together to make an animal. But the babies are adorable

-
If you've ever watched the movie "The Animal" starring Rob Schneider you might think that Dr. Wilder (Michael Caton) put them together, or maybe Dr. Victor Frankenstein even!
-
For some reason I feel like I have seen it, but I can't remember it unfortunately. I'll keep that in mind for when I do though

-
It's a really funny movie. Coleen Haskell, a beautiful young lady, Ed Asner, Norm MacDonald, and John C. McGinley are some other stars, Adam Sandler has a few cameos also! If you like comedy, I recommend it!

Platypuses?
-
Platypodes?
-
You are a scholar sir. That is the Greek plural. Platypi is technically incorrect and a form of pseudo-Latin.
-
Thus hippopotamodes?
-
Well, no. Pus is Greek for foot. As in octopodes. Hippopotamus is Hippo (horse) potamos (stream) so, I guess, Hippoipotamus as in more hippos same stream...
-
Pod. Antipodes=anti...foot?
-
I *think* it means 'the other foot' as in opposite.
-
Now that makes sense. I wasn't sure if the "anti" prefix was very strict.
