She scared me on Oz and years later scared my kids on Sesame Street. Ok I lied. I have no kids and it was me both times.

Oh, that's a shame.... I knew who she was and I LOVED seeing her in the old
@Folgers#coffee#commercials!
Yeah, I'm at least THAT old....

Oh, dammit, I think you're right....
Well done.
I loved the commercial, but I was pretty freakin' young. Way too young for coffee, anyhoo....

I love how much she owned that role. The film was released in like '39(?), and she kept appearing in costume all over the place for years. Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, the Paul Lynde Halloween Special (with KISS), and apparently Sesame Street, which is news to me.

The early roots of ComiCon.

I heard some urban leyend about her dying cause the paint gave her cancer or something, and I've just realized how dumb I was for believing it -__-

Buddy Ebsen was the one who got sick from the aluminum makeup, but he eventually recovered, though the tin woodman role was recast while he was in the hospital.
-
When she disappeared as the witch, MH had to walk backward over her skirt onto a platform w/ smoke & fire. It ended up putting her in the hospital for 6 weeks after her costume & broom caught on fire
