I doubt it. The fingers are most likely separate pieces, not a whole hand under the earth. Tree roots are versatile and they can just like,,, go around the fingers.

I understand that it's not the whole hand, but the fingers should still have some underground base. I wonder how long does this sculpture stand and what is the tree's current health.
