I'm getting old, these days I immediately wonder if tennis balls are mouse safe - or if the materials they're made from are less than ideal when ingested by adult or baby mice

That was my reaction too. The inside of a tennis ball smells like a chemical factory; one without good ventilation.

And they will fill up with water in the rain. Nice pictures for a meme but the only people doing this are also knitting sweaters for chickens.

I'm sure they could find a class of hobbyist basket-weavers to make little woven balls for the mice to remodel - with the added benefit of not attracting dogs-who-love-chasing-tennis-balls...
