Take it a step further and surmise that it’s a naturally occurring metaphor for when you set into motion things that will benefit future generations that you yourself will never get to realize. Pretty profound wisdom from a fuzzy critter who’s brain wouldn’t 1/2 fill a shot glass

I guess the thing is that one squirrel might bury & forget, but another squirrel may find it & believe they buried it. So squirrels may REPORT when questioned they find a high % of their nuts, but maybe only find a few of their own?

I saw a program on tv once where it was shown that squirrels had a great memory and know where all their nuts are buried . I`ve watched squirrels did a hole pretend to drop the nut in then look around to see if other squirrels are watching then go bury it somewhere else .
