I never understood why Spirited Away was everyone's favorite, when Mononoke was so much better.

Yeah, same here. What I really like about Mononoke is Ashitaka's struggles when people & their backstory "force" him to pick a side. But hell he just did what was right without borders. Nowadays people forces you to pick a side and condemn others like they are the arch-enemies.

Same! I totally agree with you. He's such a beautiful character. Seeing with eyes unclouded by hate to lift the curse. It had nothing to do with Iron Town or humans or wolves or the forest or lepers or the emperor... just the opposite of hate, which doesn't take sides (or form).
