Many years ago, a raccoon showed up in a hanger where I was at work. Tried to give it a sliced apple. Tasted it, spit it out. Later that night, saw it again, gave it a Twinkie from the break room vending. Swallowed that thing whole. Cream all over its snout. They like junk food.

That would make sense, they're scavengers so they chose the higher calorie food.

I seem to recall at the time that my reaction was "you're a large rodent. You scrounge through trash cans to eat. Yet the apple wasn't good enough for you, huh?" As though the rodent understood what I said as it swallowed the Twinkie.
