Fun fact : I’ve heard this was the animal that inspired the Pokémon’s ‘Sandslash’ and ‘Sandshrew’. One of them at least lol. That is so sad to hear though. Animals should be able to live in peace in their natural environment, without harm from man. Take care, little dudes. <3

They are hunted for they're thought to be protection from witchcraft and evil spells. People grind up their scales and stuff like that
