Yes, it is a real shark. It died and it was preserved in formaldehyde
-
So, not decaying

-
It was left to rot in abandoned park for more than a decade without maintenance. So yes, it is decaying :)
-
Wow that's crazy

Are you certain this isn’t a Damien Hirst sculpture?pic.twitter.com/qlKiQ0tLvR

No, this isn’t a Damien Hirst sculpture

Tiger shark not white
-
So he almost copied it exactly...
-
Nope. Her name is Rosie the Shark. She was a great white who died in a fishing net in the late 90s. She was preserved in formaldehyde and given to the Wildlife Wonderland park in Australia before it closed in 2012. It's an actual shark.

In a parallel shark universe, a dead human in a vat of formaldehyde would elicit no Twitter sympathy at all.
-
There's a traveling road show of human dead and plasticized bodies posed in various positions. People pay good money to gawk at it.
-
-
Yup, that's the one. Rumor has it, they're executed Chinese criminals. I have no idea if that's true.
-
Not true, apparently. Every single body on display comes from full-informed American and European donors who gave their permission.https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5637687 …

I guess the better question is: WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR CADAVER???????!!!!!!
