"A little paint, a little glue, the bones of 40,000 plague victims--"
A lot from plague pits I think.
Ossuaries are common enough - even without plague pits, bones get dug up & stored when a graveyard fills up. The practice of storing bones by type and size is normal, too (charnel pits are just jumbles of anonymous bones). The display... well, that's a bit odd, I'll grant you.
There was a rather bizarre film made about this by Jan Švankmajer in the 70s:https://vimeo.com/9506317
Deberíamos volver, fue una fantasía de visita
There's a medieval skull there with an arrow hole right through it where the bone has partially regrown. As far as I know its story is unknown but it's remarkable that in the middle ages someone could have lived for years after getting an arrow in the brain.
It's doesn't smell. It's beautiful!
This place is on my bucket list.
It is a pain in the ass to find from Prague & an extrememy small place. The pics are basicly it but it is beautiful.
