This literally happened to me as a kid. To this day I no longer have a belly button

My dad told me they kept spare belly buttons at the Naval Reserve.

Well, I never heard abt it looking like a crab (usually more of a dog/tiger/beast?), but the saying "Hide your belly away from the thunderstorm!" is like common joke in my fam

Just didn't know it had something to do with the raijû

Sis, this is so cool! You can use it in later projects then

-
Ahh well let's see. This is like barely the surface of our homegrown folklore

-
Co-sign on the tiger shape, lil sis. When they have your belly button, you'll lose balance (much like what people w/o or w/ lack of hearing have)
-
Duly noted

Folklore is so damn weird. From demons that lick ceilings, to giants with only one foot, depressed lumps of warts with eyes, and now this. And there's so much more.
-
They probably just used this as an explanation to why some people have an inwards belly button or something like this lmao. Whatever people don't understand, they try to somehow explain to themselves, even if its nonsense. Like Religion

Ok.... I can buy that it’s a hairy crab thing.. I can buy that it’s a Raiju... I can buy that it eats your belly button while you’re asleep... but “especially during a thunderstorm”?! What in the actual *%#&! Like that wasn’t weird enough. Like that needed ONE more factor...
-
Perhaps it's a nervous eater
-
Raiju translates to thunder beast. The little dude gets scared of thunder storms and sleeps in people's belly buttons.
-
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing :)
