I'm glad they didn't go with the first or second one. I like the fact that the Xenomorphs did not have eyes, or they were not visible to us If they did.

They were not visible. If you look at the Alien in the behind the scenes of the 1st film, you’ll notice almost a full face under the “skull”-front.

It's hard to compare the first movie with the later movie though, because in the first movie it was clearly a guy in a costume but the later versions were CGI.

interesting note: for the Aliens (2nd) movie, they had only like 4 suits, they made it look like swarms of them just with camera work, good editing, and such.

I find his Dune concept art fascinating too. Even though the movie he was working on never happened, I think it would have preceded Alien and the DNA is unmistakable. Worth a search.
