The Petrifying Well in Knaresborough, England, is a waterfall that turns things into stone. The water is so rich in minerals that pots, socks, and teddy bears have turned into rockspic.twitter.com/6NnXhLniLX

Not to be the guy who says "Well, actually ..." ... Well, actually, they haven't turned to stone. Instead they are getting a calcium carbonate built-up.

I've been there, it's a lovely spot. Sadly, the current owners have hung 100s of teddy bears up to be petrified and sold as souvenirs. It's the most ghoulish gallows, a mass lynching of old teddies.

This is also similar to the process that some okinawan karate schools used to harden wooden weapons like staves, nunchaku and tonfa.
