In Japanese Folklore, Nekomata is a two-tailed Demon cat. It can summon fireballs, its tails acting as torches to set fires. The Nekomata can re-animate the dead and control them like puppets #HappyCaturdaypic.twitter.com/05EgKQdqLu

Bonus Japanese folklore monster cat: Picture of a huge Bakeneko (monster/yokai cat) that just wanted to scare people by Kyosai Kawanabe. Look, if I saw that thing coming at me, the first thing I will do is try to hug it with all my might because I love catspic.twitter.com/irrzKnhsYU

I like how Japanese folklore ranges from something simple like "an ogre" to "I dunno, a radish with spider legs that can control time"

We in Japan have something called Tsukumogami which is based on the belief that any object will come to possess a spirit (and thus become a sort of god or yokai) so basically we can make anything into a monster or god!

The legends says, a normal cat that have lived over 20 years, becomes the Nekomata. Nekomata can talk human languages.
