  We don't need camouflage to gain an advantage. We have big brains to outsmart the little critters. We have different reasons for capturing/killing insects. Ours is inconvenience, profit for critters it's survival.

  That moth has to be a fairly recent adaptation. Think about it, it looks like the end of a branch that has been clean cut by pruning shears. On a standing tree it is pretty hard to make a cut that clean and flat even with an extremely sharp axe.
