        I looked up the wiki and it sounds very similar to the Bavarian tradition you mentioned, @polarblau. Think they’re related? The wiki mentions a related word coming from as far as Danish.

        Interesting, wasn’t aware of this tradition but they do seem similar. The Wikipedia entry for Percht(en) actually references Kukeri: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percht
